Seeding Change: A Green Journey with 25,000 Seed Balls

In the heart of the enchanting Alagarkovil Hills, our students embarked on an extraordinary mission. On September 26, 2023, we celebrated World Environmental Health Day with a remarkable initiative to restore the natural glory of this sacred land.

Under the esteemed banner of Sri Aurobindo Mira Group of Educational Institutions, our students, alongside esteemed guests, Chief Guest M. Ramaswamy and Special Guest Mr. V. Chandrasekar, embarked on a journey to rejuvenate the Alagarkovil Hills. This breathtaking region, known as the 6th abode of Lord Muruga, houses diverse wildlife, including the majestic Indian Gaur.

With unwavering support from partners like the Indian Red Cross, NSS, NCC, and Scouts & Guides, students from SAMMAT, UNIVERSAL, AIS, and SAMCE took center stage. Their mission? To disperse 25,000 seed balls, each holding the promise of nurturing an array of fruits.

This monumental effort, dubbed "SAMITES," "SAMUNES," "AUROBANITIES," and "SAMTRANS," signifies our silver jubilee celebration - 25 years of educational excellence and environmental stewardship.

The students' commitment extended beyond sowing seeds. They embarked on a rigorous clean-up operation, removing nearly 2 tonnes of plastic waste that marred the region's beauty.

Their actions not only revived the local food chain but also played a crucial role in preserving the rich biodiversity of the Alagkovil belt, benefiting the Indian Gaur and other species.

This initiative reflects our commitment to environmental stewardship and the power of collective action by young minds. It's a reminder that change starts with the seeds we plant today.
